What is BaZi?

BaZi (the Four Pillars) takes one stem-branch pair each from your birth year, month, day, and hour — eight characters in all. It is the Ziping tradition's complete portrait of a natal makeup: the element distribution, Day Master strength, and Ten God configuration are all derived from those eight characters and the hidden stems behind them.

Year Pillar

Roots and origin. The year stem-branch points to family, early environment, and ancestral imprint — and gives your zodiac animal.

Month Pillar

Parents and growth. The month branch (the season) is the most important yardstick for Day Master strength — being born in season or out of season sets the frame.

Day Pillar (Day Master)

You yourself. The day stem is the Day Master the whole chart revolves around; the day branch is your marriage palace — the closest bond.

Hour Pillar

Later years and children, and your inner mode of expression. The hour pillar completes the chart from characters into a full day cycle.

Wood generates Fire, Fire generates Earth, Earth generates Metal, Metal generates Water, Water generates Wood; Wood controls Earth, Earth controls Water, Water controls Fire, Fire controls Metal, Metal controls Wood — these generation and control cycles are the grammar behind every judgment. How to read your chart

The module cards on this page are the reading order: start from the Day Master, move to elements and Ten Gods, then relations, luck cycles, and the pattern. Each layer builds on the one before.

Pillars & Day Master

Find the Day Master first and judge strong or weak: in season or not, rooted in the branches or not, supported by other stems or not. That conclusion decides which elements are favorable and which to avoid.

Five-element balance

Distribution is not a counting game: a missing element does not always need supplementing, an abundant one is not always good — what matters is what the Day Master needs. Distribution is reference; favorable/unfavorable is the conclusion.

Ten Gods

Place every other stem under the Day Master and you get the Ten Gods — Officer and Seven Killings, Direct and Indirect Wealth, Eating God and Hurting Officer, Direct and Indirect Resource, Companion and Rebel. They are the role labels for personality, career, and relationships.

Symbolic stars

Peach Blossom, Traveling Horse, and Heavenly Noble are classical auxiliary markers. This site shows them as a reference layer with explanations, but never counts stars as the main verdict.

Luck pillars

Luck cycles move in ten-year steps, putting the chart onto a timeline. Each cycle carries a different element, so the stage for your favorable elements changes — a good chart still wants good timing.

Chart pattern

The pattern is the chart's structural setup — Direct Officer, Seven Killings, Eating God, and so on, read from the month branch and its revealed stems. Whether the pattern forms decides the chart's grade and how it is used.

Four corrections behind an accurate chart

1

Time-zone resolution

The historical time zone is resolved from the birthplace coordinates — the same country used different rules in different decades, and the chart must start from the correct local clock.

2

Historical daylight saving

China's 1986-1991 summer time and other countries' DST rules are all computed in: if you were born during DST, you don't subtract an hour yourself.

3

True solar time

The clock is corrected by the birthplace longitude — the same "8 o'clock" means a different sun position in different cities. True solar time is the standard for Ziping charting; it is on by default and shown in the result.

4

Solar-term year boundary

Lichun (Start of Spring), not January 1, is the BaZi new year: born before Lichun, you count as the previous year. Term transitions are computed astronomically, not by rough calendar dates.

The code casts; AI only reads

The four pillars, elements, Ten Gods, symbolic stars, and luck cycles are all computed by a deterministic engine — the same input always yields the same chart. AI never touches a stem or branch; it only turns computed facts into plain language. Doubt a conclusion? Check it against the module cards.

Six-chapter deep report

On top of the chart, the deep report unfolds your natal data into six full chapters, generated by AI from the complete deterministic evidence, downloadable as PDF.

How to use

1

Pick the profile

Choose or create a profile at the top — birth place and time decide chart quality, so fill them as accurately as you can.

2

Read the modules in order

Start from the BaZi explanation card and work down: Day Master, Ten Gods, elements, relations, luck. Every card expands for detail.

3

For the full six-chapter reading and AI Q&A, unlock with a pass; the report supports download and follow-up questions.

FAQ

Is BaZi charting accurate?

Casting itself is deterministic calendar computation — the same birth time always yields the same four pillars. Accuracy hinges on the birth time: off by one hour and the hour pillar changes.

What is true solar time, and can it change my chart?

True solar time corrects the clock by your birthplace longitude. When the longitude gap is large (western China, for example), the correction can cross an hour boundary and change the hour pillar.

I was born during daylight saving time — do I adjust?

No. Enter the time as recorded on your birth record; historical DST rules (including China's 1986-1991 summer time) are handled automatically.

Born between 11 pm and 1 am — which day does my chart use?

That is the zi-hour day-boundary question, and schools differ on early/late zi. This site applies one consistent Ziping convention, and the chart shows the time actually used.

What if I don't know my birth time?

The hour pillar joins the Ten God and relation math, so the time is currently required. You can cast with an approximate hour to see the year/month/day structure, then update the profile once you confirm it.

Does it support lunar-calendar input?

Yes. The birth date toggles between solar and lunar entry; lunar dates convert automatically before calculation.

Will my chart change over time?

The natal chart never changes; what moves is luck and years — a new decade cycle every ten years, a new annual pillar every year. That is exactly what the fortune timeline shows.

Can the AI get my chart wrong?

AI does not cast: pillars, elements, Ten Gods, stars, and cycles are all deterministic code. AI only interprets and must cite its basis — and you can verify every item yourself.
